Bio

Elaine Langer is a watercolorist that paints in plein air and at home.  Painting has always been a part of her life, however,  Elaine discovered her love of watercolor during an ‘Art for Scientists’ course, during her studies at SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry. Painting and sketching outside has impacted her life greatly.  Once discovering the ease and mobility of watercolors, she never turned back. Elaine’s paintings are deeply personal, and often involve memories of a moment in time. As such, in more recent years, many of Elaine’s finished paintings have mostly originated from Urban Sketches and Plein Air Paintings. Elaine Langer has become an active member of the New York City Urban Sketchers, and is rarely seen without her sketch book and watercolors.

Artist Statement
I enjoy painting out doors.  There is a way of capturing the atmosphere that just cannot be done with a camera and the memory is often forgotten when there is finally time to paint at home.  For the last few years as I have focused on water color with great enjoyment.

I also have a love of spreading painting and drawing with others.  I have enjoyed hosting painting parties for adults and children alike.  I also continue to come up with interesting and customized ideas for painting parties.
